Whitetail information and testing your knowledge of Whitetail DeerA telescopic sight, commonly called a scope, is a device used to give an accurate point of aim for weapons such as firearms, airguns and crossbows. Other sighting systems are iron sights, red dot sights, and laser sights.Telescopic sights are classified in terms of the optical magnification and the objective lens diameter, e.g. 10�50. This would denote 10 times magnification with a 50 mm objective lens. In general terms, larger objective lens diameters are better (collect more light and give a wider field of view), the magnification power should be chosen on the basis of the intended use. There are also adjustable objectives sights where the magnification can be changed by manually turning one part; the syntax is the following: minimal magnification � maximum magnification � objective lens, for example, 3�9�40.Telescopic sights come with a variety of different reticles, ranging from the traditional crosshairs to complex reticles designed to allow the shooter to estimate accurately the range to a target, to compensate for the bullet drop, and to compensate for the windage required due to crosswinds. Perhaps most flexible is the "mil-dot" reticle, which consists of duplex crosshairs with small dots at milliradian intervals in the field of view. (A milli-radian equates to 3.43775 MOA, that is, approximately 21.6 inches at 600 yards; each MOA equates to 1.0472 inch at 100 yards, often rounded to 1 inch at 100 yards for fast mental calculations.) A trained user can estimate the range to objects of known size, the size of objects at known distances, and even compensate for both bullet drop and wind drifts at known ranges with a reticle-equipped scope.[edit] MountingScopes for use on light recoiling firearms, such as rimfires, can be mounted with a single ring, and this method is not uncommon on handguns, where space is at a premium. Most scopes are mounted with two rings, one in the front half of the scope and one on the back half, which provides additional strength and support. The heaviest recoiling firearms, such as Thompson Center Arms Contender pistols in heavy recoiling calibers, will use three rings for maximum support of the scope. Use of too few rings can result not only in the scope moving under recoil, but also excessive torque on the scope tube as the gun rolls up under recoil.Telescopic sights have both advantages and disadvantages relative to iron sights. Standard doctrine with iron sights is to focus the eye on the front sight and align it with the resulting blur of the target and the rear sight; most shooters have difficulty doing this, as the eye tends to be drawn to the target, blurring both sights. Telescopic sights allow the user to focus on both the crosshair and the target at the same time, as the lenses project the crosshair into the distance (50 to 100 yards or meters for rimfire scopes, 150 or more for centerfire calibers). This, combined with telescopic magnification, clarifies the target and makes the target stand out against the background. The main disadvantage of magnification is that the area to either side of the target is obscured by the tube of the sight. The higher the magnification, the narrower the field of view in the sight, and the more area that is hidden. Rapid fire target shooters use red dot sights, which have no magnification; this gives them the best field of view while maintaining the single focal plane of a telescopic sight. Telescopic sights are expensive, and require additional training to align. Sight alignment with telescopic sights is a matter of making the field of vision circular to minimize parallax err

Here Kerry uses a multi-line rig to catch many trout at once.The spotted seatrout, Cynoscion nebulosus, is a common estuary fish found in the southern United States. While most of these fish are caught on shallow, grassy flats, spotted seatrout reside in virtually any inshore waters, from the surf of outside islands to far up coastal rivers, where they often come for shelter during cold weather. Contrary to its name, the spotted seatrout is not a member of the trout family (Salmonidae), but of the drum family (Sciaenidae).

Jonathon Gassaway on atv with a friend.The term "All-Terrain Vehicle" or ATV is used in a general sense to describe any of a number of small open motorized buggies and tricycles designed for off-road use.ATVs were made in the United States a decade before 3- and 4-wheeled vehicles were introduced by Honda and other Japanese companies. During the 1960s numerous manufacturers offered similar small off-road vehicles, that were designed to float and were capable of traversing swamps, ponds and streams as well as dry land. Typically constructed from a hard plastic or fiberglass "tub", they usually had six wheels - all driven - with low pressure (around 3 PSI) balloon tires, no suspension (other than what the tires offered) and used a skid-steer steering setup. These early amphibious models were the original all-terrain vehicles - or ATVs. Contrary to todays ANSI definition of an ATV, they were intended for multiple riders, sitting inside, and would usually have steering wheels or control sticks rather than motorcycle-type handle bars as stipulated in the current definition.

The Elk, or Wapiti (Cervus canadensis), is the second largest species of deer in the world, after the moose (Alces alces), which is, confusingly, often also called "elk" in Europe. Elk are one of the largest mammals in North America and eastern Asia. Male Elk have large antlers which are shed each year. Until recently, Elk and Red Deer (Cervus elaphus) were considered the same species, however DNA research has indicated that they are different. Elk range in forest and forest-edge habitat, feeding on grasses, plants, leaves and bark. Although native to North America and eastern Asia, Elk have adapted well to countries where they have been introduced, including New Zealand and Argentina. In some places where Elk have been intoduced, they pose a threat to endemic species and ecosystems and are considered an invasive species.Among all Elk subspecies, males engage in ritualized mating behaviors during the rut, including posturing, antler wrestling and, especially, "bugling", a loud series of screams designed to help attract females and to establish dominance over other males. The bugle call is one of the most distinctive calls in nature.

The red drum also known as channel bass, redfish, puppy drum or just red, is a game fish that is found in the Atlantic Ocean from Massachusetts to Florida and in the Gulf of Mexico from Florida to Northern Mexico.Red Drum are notable game fish, appealing to fly fishermen and anglers with spinning and baitcasting tackle alike. In shallow water settings, Red Drum are often seen "tailing," or grubbing for food in such a manner that their tail fins are exposed above the surface of the water.

Monster Grizzly Bear! The grizzly bear, sometimes called the silvertip bear, is a powerful brownish-yellow bear that lives in the uplands of western North America. Grizzly bears reach weights of(400�1,500 pounds) and stand a height of 8 feet tall when standing on its hind legs from blond to deep brown or black. grizzly has a large hump over the shoulders which is a muscle mass used to power the forelimbs in digging. these bears can run at speeds of up to thirty-five miles per hour. The current range of the grizzly bear extends from Alaska, south through much of Western Canada, and into portions of the Northwestern United States including Idaho, Montana and Wyoming, extending as far south as Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.The grizzly currently enjoys legal protection in the United States. Brown bears (of which the grizzly bear is a subspecies) can live up to thirty years in the wild, though twenty to twenty-five is normal.moose, deer, sheep, caribou and even black bears. Grizzly bears will feed on fish such as salmon, trout, and bass, and those with access. Grizzly bears will readily scavenge food. Most notable in Yellowstone have been the interactions between gray wolves and grizzly bears. Since the reintroduction of gray wolves to Yellowstone, many the grizzly bear will use its strong sense of smell to locate the kill first. Then the wolves and grizzly will play a game of cat and mouse. One wolf may try to distract the bear while the others feed. The bear then may retaliate by chasing the wolves. If the wolves become aggressive with the bear it is normally in the form of careful nips at its hind legs.

The AHSA has four stated goals:"Protecting our sporting heritage" (gun education, marksmanship, hunting, sponsorship of shooting competitions, opposition to canned hunts)

 2) TREAT EVERY FIREARM AS THOUGH IT WERE LOADED.

Giant Alligator in the " OUTDOORS SECTION"Alligators are characterized by a wider snout and eyes more dorsally located than their crocodile cousins. (although the Chinese alligator has some light patterning.) Also, in alligators only the upper teeth can be seen with the jaws closed (in contrast to true crocodiles, in which upper and lower teeth can be seen). The eyes of a large alligator will glow red and those of a smaller one will glow green when a light is shined on them. This fact can be used to find alligators in the dark.An average American alligator's weight and length is 800 lbs. and 13 feet long. According to the Everglades National Park website, the largest alligator ever recorded in Florida was 17 feet 5 inches long (5.3 meters). The largest alligator ever recorded measured 19 feet 2 inches (5.8 meters) and was found on Marsh Island, Louisiana.The Chinese Alligator is smaller.The American Alligators normally live along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida as well as Arkansas, Georgia and the Carolinas. However in the last few years, the alligators range appears to be increasing northward. Alligators have been seen as far north as Memphis, Tennessee. The majority of American Alligators inhabit Florida and Louisiana. In Florida alone there are an estimated more than 1 million alligators. The United States is the only nation on earth where both alligators and crocodiles live side by side. American Alligators live in freshwater environments, such as ponds, marshes, wetlands, rivers, and swamps, as well as salt water environments. Although alligators have heavy bodies and slow metabolisms, they are capable of short bursts of speed that can exceed 30 miles per hour, though this could more properly be classified as a short fast lunge rather than a dash.[1] Alligators' main prey are smaller animals that they can kill and eat with a single bite. It borders Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Swaziland, and Lesotho, an independent enclave surrounded by South African territory. South Africa is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations.South Africa contains some of the oldest and most beautiful archaeological sites in Africa. Extensive fossil remains at the Sterkfontein, Kromdraai and Makapansgat caves suggest that various australopithecines existed in South Africa from about three million years ago. These were succeeded by various species of Homo, including Homo habilis, Homo erectus and modern man, Homo sapiens. Bantu-speaking peoples, iron-using agriculturists and herdsmen, moved south of the Limpopo River into modern-day South Africa by the fourth or fifth century (the Bantu expansion) displacing the original Khoi and San speakers. They slowly moved south and the earliest ironworks in modern-day KwaZulu-Natal Province are believed to date from around 1050. The southernmost group was the Xhosa people, whose language incorporates certain linguistic traits from the earlier Khoi and San people, reaching the Fish River, in today's Eastern Cape Province. These Iron Age populations displaced earlier hunter-gatherer peoples as they migrated.
